Course Content

Identifying and Distinguishing Parts of the Female Reproductive System in Poultry
In this lesson, learners will: Identify the two main components of the female reproductive system: the ovary and the oviduct. Understand the function of the ovary, including the development of follicles and yolk formation. Explore the five sections of the oviduct: Infundibulum – captures the yolk and is the site of fertilization. Magnum – adds the egg white (albumen). Isthmus – forms the shell membranes. Shell gland (uterus) – forms the hard shell and adds pigmentation. Vagina – aids in egg laying and prevents contamination. Learn how the egg formation process takes approximately 24–26 hours. Recognize the importance of each part in maintaining reproductive efficiency and egg quality. By the end of the lesson, learners will be able to label and describe each part of the system and explain its role in egg production.
